The seating chart is the last big job before a wedding and the one that starts arguments. 150 guests, 18 tables, three sets of divorced parents, one ex who somehow got invited, and every table has to feel like a table of friends.

This solves it. Paste the guest list, list the tables, write the rules in plain lines, press the button. A solver works through thousands of arrangements and gives you one where every hard rule holds and nobody is stranded with strangers.

THE RULES IT UNDERSTANDS

• together: these people sit at one table (couples, plus-ones, families)
• apart: these people are never at the same table
• head: who sits at the head table
• near: a soft preference to share a table, honored when it costs nothing
• lock: pin a guest to a specific table and the solver works around them
• Tags: add veg, kid, wheelchair or anything after the group and every table shows its counts, so the caterer and the venue get the numbers without a second spreadsheet
• Company score: every table shows what share of its guests have someone from their own group or a together rule with them
• Groups: everyone with the same group label is kept together as far as the tables allow, and nobody is left as the only person from their group at a table
