Type the purchase date, the return window and the warranty length. The spreadsheet works out the rest every day: RETURNABLE, COVERED, ENDING SOON or EXPIRED, with days left and a plain-English next step.

And it writes the letters

When something breaks, pick the item from a dropdown, describe the problem, and four letters fill in with the brand, store, purchase date, serial number and your contact details:

• Warranty claim (to the manufacturer)
• Escalation (when they ignore you or say no)
• Chargeback request (to your credit card company)
