Race Pace & Split Planner cover

Every split, adjusted for the hills.

An even pace on a hilly course is a bad plan. You blow up on the climb at mile 7 and never get the time back. The right plan is even effort: slower going up, faster coming down, arriving at the finish on your goal time.

This builds that plan from the course itself. Load the race GPX, type the goal, and every mile or kilometre gets its own target pace based on how much it climbs and drops, using the same energy-cost curve the grade-adjusted-pace tools use. Add a negative split if you want one. Then print the wrist band.

WHAT IT DOES

  • Reads any GPX (race downloads, Strava, Garmin, RideWithGPS)
  • Grade-adjusted pace per split from the Minetti energy-cost curve
  • Negative split as a percent, on top of the hill adjustment
  • Gel timing from your carbs-per-hour target, marked on the splits
  • Clock time per split from the gun time
  • Elevation chart, per-split climb and descent, the hardest split called out
  • A wrist band that prints in three columns
  • Goal prediction: a recent race distance and time in, the Riegel prediction for this race out, one click to use it, and a warning when the typed goal is more than 4% faster than it
  • Weather: temperature and humidity in, the expected slowdown out, with a switch to bake it into the plan
  • Aid stations: type the station distances and each gel is moved to the nearest station ahead so you take it with water; stations are marked on the splits

WHAT YOU GET OUT

Goal, first and second half times, total climb and descent, the full split table, and the band.
