The test kit gives you five numbers. The pool store gives you a bag of something. This gives you the ounces.

WHAT IT DOES

• Water balance: the Langelier index from pH, temperature, calcium, carbonate alkalinity (corrected for CYA) and TDS, with a plain verdict: corrosive, balanced, scaling
• Chlorine target from your stabilizer level (minimum 7.5% of CYA, target 11.5%), and the dose in fluid ounces of liquid chlorine or ounces of cal-hypo, dichlor or trichlor
• pH down with muriatic or dry acid, scaled by your alkalinity; pH up with soda ash or aeration
• Alkalinity up with baking soda, down with acid and aeration
• Calcium up with calcium chloride; the honest answer (drain) when it is too high
• Stabilizer up with cyanuric acid; the honest answer (drain) when it is too high
• Everything in the order that does not fight itself, with the warning about chlorine and acid on the same day
• Chlorine log: log FC and combined chlorine daily. It computes your daily loss, and when combined chlorine or the loss rate says algae, it switches to a SLAM: the shock level for your CYA and the chlorine to get there
• Salt chlorine generator: cell rating, pump hours and current output in. It converts the cell's pounds per day to ppm per day for your volume, tells you the output percentage that matches your daily loss (or the pump hours if the cell is maxed), and the pounds of salt to reach target
• The factor table so you can see where the index came from
